Bachelorette Survival Kit

This past week I had the joy of preparing the party favors for a friend's bachelorette party.  I was so excited to do this!  I love to be creative when other people will be on the receiving end of my projects.  Today I am going to share with you the Bachelorette Survival Kits I made for us girls and later this week the bachelorette sash I made her! Both were super fun projects!

I used paper sacks, folded over the top, punched holes and used silver zebra ribbon to tie it together with the tag I made up.  The bride-to-be had special bling from the Dollar Bin at Michael's.

Inside there were a bunch of little treats to get the girls through the night.  The tag on the front explained why each item was included in the bag.

A close-up of the Advil packets.  I folded a 4x2 piece of paper in half and sewed the edges shut.  This leaves one side for easy tearing when the end of the night comes and you need some Advil! The pink stickers I created by printing them on a full sheet label and then using a 1" circle punch.

I gathered inspiration for these bags from SincerelyKristi, Miss Jillian Designs, and here.

Best Wishes

A super-duper good friend of mine is about to get married!  Below is the card I made for her wedding shower:

My mom subscribes to Cardmaker magazine and in the September issue, there was an accordian Halloween card that I loved the layout of.  There are a lot of good ideas in that magazine! Here is my adaptation. The wedding papers are from an older Making Memories set I have.

The white ribbon is tied around the outside so after you untie it or slip it off, the card starts to open like this :

What I love about this is is looks like there is paper everywhere but when you open it up, there are still black squares and the paper is on opposite sides.

The rings and hearts are cut from Cricut's Everyday Pop-Up Cards cart.  The sentiment stamp is Fiskars.

Here is the entire card open.

I hope you like this card!  My friend did! :)

Thanks for the Memories frame

At the end of the last school year, a co-worker retired.  We have a small department and so we celebrated her retirement with a small party including cake, punch, and gifts!  This is the shadow box frame I made for the sentimental portion of her gift:

We had just gotten together earlier in the month for another retirement so I took the opportunity to get us together for a photo, knowing that I would be needing it for this!

I had already closed the shadow box and was ready for wrapping so I'm sorry about the glass glare!  I took pages from Old Yeller to use one in the background and another to make this flower.  I then used two cuts from Ornamental Iron to give the center a little color.  I used hemp twine and a button to finish it off.

In the bottom corner I used two ribbons from Michael's to add that "school" flavor.   I also used a Melody Ross tag to journal that we would miss her!

The top corner has an epoxy sticker from JoAnns and a cut from Ornamental Iron.

This was like doing a scrapbook page in a frame so I really enjoyed making it!  It was well received too! :)

Stick Pin Swap

Hello!  This project is for a stick pin swap I was in via the Cricut Circle message board and I have been waiting to share them with you for quite awhile!  Everyone should have their boxes back now so today is the big reveal day! I was in Group 2.

So here we go!  Each was wrapped in a clear bag.  When you take it out of the bag, it looks like this:

Then you untie the ribbon and enjoy...

The card opens from the middle to reveal the pins:

Close-up of the pins:
The pearl topped pins were from Bargain Bill's, the green beads were from Hobby Lobby, the graphite beads and clear beads from Michael's, and the ribbon was from my stash.

All of them together before I sent them off:

This swap was a lot of fun and the pins I got back were beautiful!  Thank you to our wonderful hostess, JJewel!

I entered this into the Cricut Circle Magazine Challenge, which is to use our newest Cricut cartridge, Out of Character! This is the enjoy cut at 2", with all layers out of different color greens.  I embossed the front of the card with a Cuttlebug folder.

Guest blogger - Sadie and her crayon canvas

My daughter Sadie and I have been seeing crayon art projects around a lot lately.  Sadie finally decided to give it a try.  She used a blog post from Kindergarten Lifestyle to help her along in the process.  Here she is to blog about her creation:

Hi! My name is Sadie I just love do art projects and artsy stuff! And also enjoy  scrapbooking with my mom!

I was inspired to make this when I was searching for art projects for my sister and I to do. That's when I found this project.

I thought this was the coolest project ever. I thought I would give it a try:)

First we found a canvas that we had laying around, I got some Elmer's school glue, I also had to pick out crayons that I wanted to use. I glued them to the canvas.

I let those dry and lied some newspaper down. Under the newspaper I put a big book to lean the canvas on so the wax would drip down.

Once the glue dried I got out a hair dryer on high and hair dried the wax. This is what it looks like then it is done:

I let it dry on the newspaper overnight to make sure it was dry.  I want to put it in a frame.  Mom says maybe a regular frame without the glass will work.

I hope you like my project as much as I do!:) Thanks for reading!!

Bandana Dress and Skirt

I was recently inspired by a crafting friend Linda and a post she made to Facebook.  When I saw the bandana dress she made, I knew I wanted to make my own.  So here are my adventures:

First, I picked up some bandanas from Michael's.  I sewed them together to make this dress:

However, she wasn't thrilled with it. :(  My older daughter asked to try it on as a shirt and she loves it!  So new shirt for her :)

I then wanted to make a skirt.  I was going to try to simply fold the bandana in half and sew a slot for the elastic.  I looked online however and found this cute tutorial.  So I went to Walmart quick and got some more bandanas.  This skirt is the result:

She wanted the blue on the outside and as long as she was going to like it, I was up for it!  (She also doesn't hold very still for photographs!)

Now both of my girls have their outfits ready for the 4th of July!

Father's Day Cards 2012

Cricut is offering five free Father's Day card designs through June 19 in their online program, Cricut Craft Room (CCR).  Thank you Provo Craft for having these!  They were really easy to make.  This is also the first time I downloaded the desktop version of CCR and cut from it.  It was a fast download and cut on the first try.  I had absolutely no problems with it - joy!

Here are the two I made: (This card is standard A2)

I only did very minimal decoration to these cards.  On this one, I glittered the word "Greatest", inked "World's" and "Father" and added five brads along the bottom.

And the second:  (This card is 5x5")

Some of the things I added to this cute golf card are a white brad for the golf ball, inking of brown (a bad job here I know - my StazOn brown is acting really weird...), and some Trendy Twine.

I hope all the dads out there have a wonderful Father's Day!!
